Compared to ordinary high Cr cast iron rolls, the enhanced ones add modification treatment and applied to work rolls for roughing/finishing stands of 4-high medium, wide plate mill, work rolls for roughing/finishing stands of 4- high hot wide strip mill, work rolls/back-up rolls for tempering stands of 4-high cold and hot strip mill. The modification treatment limits oxidation of the roll surface, concurrent occurrence with the banding and spalling in adverse thermal.
