Whole process quality and inspection system from raw materials to finished rolls

The whole process implements computer information collection and feedback processing.

  • German Bruker Q8 direct reading spectrometer,
  • Japanese Shimadzu MNV-2T golden microscope,
  • German KK USD12 ultrasonic flaw detector, and etc.

Cast rolls technical Process:

Modeling → smelting → centrifugal casting → cleaning → preliminary heat treatment → rough machining → differential heat treatment → finishing → packaging and delivery.

Temperature controlled cooling + annealing treatment after casting:

the microstructure transformation is more sufficient and the stress state is more stable.

The composition of the working layer adopts multi-element micro alloying technology:

 which takes into account wear resistance and accident resistance, and has better comprehensive performance.

The multi-layer composite technology: 

is adopted to effectively block the diffusion of high alloy content in the working layer to the core structure and ensure the strength and toughness of the core structure.

Differential heat treatment technology: 

is adopted to make the microstructure change fully and the stress distribution more stable and reasonable.

Forged steel roll technical Process:

Electric arc furnace smelting → LF \ VD refining → ingot casting → annealing → cleaning → electroslag remelting → annealing → forging → post forging heat treatment → rough machining → preliminary heat treatment → semi finishing → dual frequency quenching or differential temperature treatment → cryogenic treatment → tempering → finishing → packaging and delivery.

Production Equipment

The company possesses eight melting facilities:
1.including an Electric Arc Furnace for steel melting of30 tons,
2.45/70 tons LF-VD Furnaces,
3.Electric SlagRemelting Furnaces (10 tons and 15 tons),
4.medium frequency Induction Melting Furnaces (5tons, 10 tons and 20 tons).
These melting facilities intotal can accomplish a daily smelting capacity of 120tons of molten steel, 240 tons of molten iron and 25tons of electric slag remelting. All the meltingfurnaces are automatically controlled by PLC withvery good working conditions; they are equiped withautomatic alarm system and furnished with perfectequipment for eliminating smoke & dust. All the rawmaterials for smelting are strictly controlled, thechemical composition are precisely tested to ensurethe qualified melting process.Thereby, the refiningprocess shows also excellent results.

1. The company has two sets of horizontal centrifugal casting machines, with the maximumspin cast roll size of Dia 1400× 3860mm Barrel Length.


2. The centrifugal casting machinescan realize the integration of spray coating and controlling the mould temperature.


3. They aredriven by hydraulic motor and operated steadily, the speed of rotation could reach 1500 r/min,which can assure the technical requirement ongravity multiple accurately and confirm the best quality of working layer.

There is one set of 45MN Oil Hydraulic Press which can ensure the adequate ratio of forging reduction and deformation for forged rolls.

  1. There are sixteen sets of car-type electric resistance furnaces and gas furnace so perating with high, medium and lowtemperature.
  2. Two sets of differential heat treatment furnaces.
  3. One set of dual-frequency induction quenching machine.
  4. Two sets of spray quenching machines.
  5. One set of high-frequency hardening machine.
  6. Two sets of deep freezing treatmentt roughs.
    All the furnaces are computer-controlled, with the furnace temperature deviation less than 10℃, which ensures very good uniformity of roll hardness.

There are 36sets of machining equiment, including CNC lathes, CNC grinders, and CNC double-sidedmilling machines. The machining range can be dia 80×1000-dia.1600×8000mm and recision ranges up to0.003mm.

The company has the most advanced inspection and testing equipments such as X-ray Fluorescence Spectrometer, Plasma Emission Spectrometer,Optical Emission Spectrometer (OBLF), Hydrogen /Oxygen /Nitrogen Combined Analyzer (LECO), Carbon /Sulfur Analyzer for chemical analysis; and also has Scanning Electron Microscope, Metaloscope, Image Analyzer (Zciss), Microhardness Tester, Universal Testing Machine, Impact Testing Machine, Analog and Digital Ultrasonic Testing Device, Magnetic Powder UT Tester, Stress Meter. PortableLeeb & Shore Hardness Tester, etc. All these instruments and equipments can guarantee the Quality Assurance effectively.
