Electric steelmaking is a major use of graphite electrodes. Graphite electrode used in steelmaking accounts for 70% ~ 80% of the total graphite electrode consumption.
Used in mine thermal furnace
The ore thermal electric furnace is mainly used for the production of industrial silicon and yellow phosphorus. For each 1t of silicon, about 100kg of graphite electrode is needed, and for each 1t of yellow phosphorus, about 40kg of graphite electrode is needed.
Used in resistance furnace
The graphitization furnace for producing graphite products, the melting furnace for melting glass and the electric furnace for producing silicon carbide are all resistance furnaces. Generally, the graphite electrode for conducting electricity is embedded in the furnace wall at the resistance furnace end, and the graphite electrode used here is discontinuous consumption.
Used for preparation of heterologous graphite products
Graphite electrodes are used in various types of graphite products such as crucible, mould, boat dish and heating body. In the quartz glass industry, 10t of graphite electrode blank is needed for every 1t of electric fuse produced. For every 1t of quartz brick, 100kg of graphite electrode blank is consumed.
