The ideal permanent layer refractory material for ladle insulation (ladle refractory materials) should have the characteristics of good thermal stability, heat preservation, corrosion resistance, safe and reliable operation, structural integrity, and long service life under long-term operation. The shell temperature of the composite permanent layer ladle solution is reduced by 50°C~75°C, and the temperature of the molten steel is reduced by 0.25°C/min~0.30°C/min. The effectiveness of the solution is fully verified.
Ladle is an essential container in the steelmaking process. Continuous development in smelting technology, particularly the introduction of secondary refining processing devices like LF and RH, has transformed its role from merely receiving molten steel to serving as a furnace that carries out specific smelting functions.
If the molten steel stays in the ladle for a long time, it will inevitably cause the temperature of the molten steel to dissipate, and the ladle lining with high thermal conductivity will cause the heat dissipation loss of the molten steel to increase, the deformation of the ladle shell to become more serious, and the temperature drop rate of the molten steel to increase. This results in serious slag hanging on the wall, nodules, cold steel, etc.
Excessive low temperature even forces the tundish to cut off the flow and final pouring, which not only affects the quality of the slab, lowers the molten steel yield, but also increases the production cost.

Therefore, the ideal permanent layer refractory material for ladle insulation (ladle refractory material) should have the characteristics of good thermal stability, heat preservation, corrosion resistance, safe and reliable operation, structural integrity, and long service life under long-term operation.
The current conventional ladle refractory structural insulation mode is lightweight insulation panels (such as nanoplates, ceramic fiber boards, etc.) + permanent layer castables + working layer refractory materials, which cannot achieve the ideal thermal insulation state of molten steel.
Composite permanent layer lining structural solutions
Based on the above customer usage problems, a composite permanent layer lining structure solution is launched.

Superimpose ultra-low thermal conductivity plates (maximum operating temperature 1000°C) on the permanent layer where the steel shell transitions to the refractory working layer. Lightweight fire-resistant insulation protects the thermal insulation panels (maximum operating temperature 1400°C). Heavy fire-resistant safety layer (maximum operating temperature: 1650°C).
By numerically simulating the temperature distribution of the composite permanent layer ladle shell. The composite permanent layer ladle solution reduces the shell temperature by 50°C-75°C and lowers the molten steel temperature by 0.25°C/min-0.30°C/min compared to traditional ladles. The effectiveness of the solution is fully verified.
