Study on high resistance to spalling magnesium-carbon brick
Three different formulations and magnesia carbon bricks treated with different heat treatment methods (see table below) were studied. The 1# sample is a low-temperature heat-treated brick composed of fused magnesia, high-purity graphite and phenolic resin, and the 2# sample is a brick which is fired and asphalt-impregnated on the basis of the 1# sample, and 3# is in Add powder bricks in 1#.
Samples | 1 | 2 | 3 |
Fused magnesia | 80 | 80 | 77 |
graphite | 20 | 20 | 20 |
AI powder | – | – | 3 |
Phenolic Resin | +3 | +3 | +3 |
Heat treatment | Low temperature heat treatment | Firing + asphalt impregnation | Low temperature heat treatment |
Bulk density | 2.9 | 2.96 | 2.9 |
Apparent porosity | 3.5 | 1.2 | 3.7 |
Cold crushing strength | 44 | 57 | 45 |
As a result, it is considered that the brick (2#) which is not immersed in the aluminum powder and is immersed and fired by the asphalt is better than the other two bricks.
