- Control rooms centralized and leaves the scene.
In the past, each of our production lines would have more than a dozen control rooms, and now most of the production lines have only one control room, and even some bases have only one control room from sintering to iron, steel, and steel rolling. All the control rooms left the scene. For example, at present, blast furnaces, hot rolling and other control rooms at the Zhanjiang base can be centrally operated in Shanghai where is thousands of kilometers away. In the future, we will make this work to the extreme, and strive to let more employees leave the site and all operations will be finished remotely.
- Use robots for all operating positions.
Now it is not possible yet, but we are advancing this work. Dirty and dangerous positions now use robots basically. For example, the continuous casting process in the steel-making process is relatively complicated. Now the continuous casting platform at the Baoshan base has been unmanned and operated by robots. It is beneficial for safety and environmental protection.
Example 1. Automatic temperature measurement and sampling of LF furnace manipulator

- It is the first time to realise “automatic steel pouring for bloom casting” in the industry.
Example 3. Intelligent driving crane for lifting molten steel ladle
BAOWU group Meisteel Steel Plant’s No. 18 intelligent crane hoisted molten steel ladle, from the No. 2 LF refining furnace east station, one-key automatic cruise reached the No. 1 continuous casting machine large ladle turntable, and the package was successful. Driving safety and stable operation, automatically adjust the regional limit, without manual intervention in the middle. The success of the first crane of No.18 automatic cruise cruise marks the first intelligent liquid molten metal crane truck in China put into production.
- Remote monitoring of all equipment.
All the equipment is equipped with sensors. The working status and parameters of the equipment are monitored centrally on the platform. The inspectors can always check through mobile phones and other equipment. The platform can even be located in Shanghai. Now we can see the real-time parameters of all the major and important equipment in the Shanghai operation and maintenance center, for example, some parameters of Wuhan Iron and Steel rolling mill can be seen in Shanghai, timely and accurately understand the working status of equipment.
- Service is always online on internet. This is mainly for sales and purchases.
Based on these four requirements, China Baowu issued a smart manufacturing index to evaluate each base. In addition, through the mode of on-site meeting and communication, an atmosphere of learning and helping is formed. We organize an on-site meeting of smart manufacturing every six months. Xinjiang Bagang and Anhui Magang were held. Now we have many very representative unmanned manufacturing or smart manufacturing production lines, such as Baosteel’s 1580, black lamp factory, and unmanned warehouse, etc. It can be said that labor productivity has greatly improved, whether from safety or From the efficiency point of view, it is very good. Especially in this extreme situation, the role of smart manufacturing is even greater.
