Hot conveying roller for continuous casting and rolling

The hot delivery roller table for continuous casting and rolling is a key equipment in the continuous casting and rolling production line. It is mainly used to quickly and stably transport the high-temperature ingots (generally at a temperature of about 800-1200℃) produced by the continuous casting machine to the rolling mill for rolling. In this process, it is necessary to ensure that the temperature of the ingot is lost as little as possible to fully utilize the residual heat of the ingot and reduce energy consumption.

Importance in continuous casting and rolling process

  • Energy saving

Using the waste heat of the billet for rolling can significantly reduce the energy consumption of the heating furnace. For example, if there is no hot conveyor roller to transport high-temperature slabs in a timely and effective manner, the slabs will then enter the heating furnace to be heated to rolling temperature after cooling, which will consume a large amount of energy such as gas or electricity. Through the hot conveyor roller table, the cast slab can enter the rolling mill at a higher temperature, which reduces the heating time and energy consumption of the heating furnace, generally saving about 30% – 50% of energy.

  • Production efficiency

The efficient and stable operation of the hot delivery roller can ensure the seamless connection between the continuous casting and continuous rolling processes. If the hot delivery roller fails, the billet cannot be delivered to the rolling mill in time, which will cause the continuous casting machine to be forced to stop production or the rolling mill to wait for the billet, affecting the production efficiency of the entire production line. In addition, the stable delivery speed helps to accurately control the rolling rhythm and improve product quality.

  • Quality Control

Since the hot delivery roller can maintain the temperature of the ingot, the ingot has a more uniform structure when it enters the rolling mill. Ingots with uniform temperature deform more evenly during the rolling process, which is conducive to the production of products with high dimensional accuracy and good internal quality. For example, for the production of products such as steel plates, ingots with appropriate temperature can reduce defects such as cracks during the rolling process.
